Instant OGo Feature Update: June 2006

June 01, 2006 Skyrix is now offering the first major update for its Instant OGo Groupware Linux. Numerous improvements and innovations are added for extended functionality and even better usability.

This upgrade is free of charge for customers which have a valid maintenance subscription.

Important innovations of Instant OGo 1.1 release

  • Groupware server inlcudes new exciting features
    • Team Administration: Creation and management of teams has been completely revised for the entire groupware. Arbitrary users can get permissions to act as team administrators creating new groups and assigning members. Thus a maximum of flexibility and dynamics in the daily work becomes possible.
    • Calendar Server: Scheduler allows now to declare the role of the attendee. You're able to enter the head person and invite mandatory and optional attendees. Also a calendar entry may be for information only. Thus meetings can much more better organized.
    • Calendar Server: A refined new feature are extended attributes on dates. As soon as you tried it once, it will be essential for your daily work.
    • Calendar Server: A popup list for month selection was added for faster navigation of schedulers month overview.
    • Calendar Server: Private appointments now can be hidden from other users completely so that they not even see an asterisk sign.
    • Calendar Server: Support for additional repetition patterns was added for scheduling of recurring appointments.
    • Webmail Client: The ability to filter emails for Organization and List-Id headers was added.
    • Office Integration: Added new MIME types for OpenOffice.org 2.0/OASIS OpenDocument file types.
    • Usability: In order to facilitate efficient scheduling, interface elements of appointment editor were rearranged, and operability was crucially improved when working on dates.
    • Usability: A new exciting feature is the clipboard link-editor that has been implemented. Thus not only project information but almost any objects of the entire groupware can be linked together!
    • Usability: The team entries in calendar filter popup can be limited to member-teams now.
  • Improved administration
    • The server status of all services is now clearly indicated on the main page of the configuration database.
    • The recent log files of all communication services can be viewed by administrators interface now.
    • Configuration changes apply mostly without restart of services. Thus service downtime become more rarely necessary.
    • More than one license key for the Outlook connector can be configured. Old keys can be deleted. The ZideStore version used by the Outlook connector is displayed.
    • For the server backup a new script is pre-installed, which creates a daily database dump. This gives a better protection from sudden system crashes.
    • A new detailed administration manual is provided as PDF document.
  • Improved integration between email server and groupware
    • You are able now to set up a smart mailing list for each team of the entire groupware. Smart mailing lists always keeps in sync with associated team memberships. (SX Enh #2043)
    • If your relayhost requires SASL authentification, you may enter now the necessary credentials using the administrative interface as well. (SX Enh #2081)
  • Fixed Bugs
    • (SX-Bug #2037) Special characters are intercepted when entering vacation notice, so this can not lead any more to loss of notification messages.
    • (SX-Bug #2123) This update eliminates a bug in the administration interface of version 1.0.7 ASE that prevented new packages to be displayed (bzip2 problem).
  • New additional server options
    • LDAP-Auth Option: If a company-wide LDAP server is already in use, Instant OGo can be configured to authenticate against it as well. If this option is active, all necessary settings can be made using the Web interface.
    • Fax Option: Starting with release 1.1 optionally a new fax module is offered. Thus the Instant OGo server can be extended to an company-wide fax server using a certified modem and/or ISDN device.
